Profile
For over fifteen years the artists and engineers at Roto Studio have created interactive, multi-media, site- and audience-specific artworks for museums, zoos and aquariums, hospitals and other unique public destinations.
We strive to create highly accessible, participatory art, such that the visitor becomes an active part of the expression. Many of our installations are musical or kinetic in nature, and we work in a wide array of media and styles. We want to express a celebration of life, promote social interaction and provide engaging outlets for human creativity, often seeking the juxtaposition of contrasting themes for humorous or dramatic effect.
We focus on site-specific commissions for corporate, institutional and public-sector clients seeking powerful, immediate connections with their audience.
We are a full-time design + production group comprised of the following talented people.
Bridgette Mariea (principal) Creates the context for a successful project environment, integrating the creative process among artists, technical needs and client expectations. Easy to talk to and good at fixing things when they break.
Neil Baker (principal) Award-winning designer and lead artist, Neil's visual style and command of all media produces some of Roto's most striking pieces. Adept problem-solver, rarely satisfied with first solutions, works really late into the night.
Allen Boerger (principal) Designer, writer and producer, Allen creates and art-directs many of our conceptual projects, develops our character-driven work, and produces much of our a/v content.
Joseph Wisne (principal) Veteran of the interactive "hands on" field, Joe specializes in developing new experiential ideas which resonate with specific audiences and reflect the context of the installation.
Randy Hinderer (principal) Former salvage diver and submersible pilot, Randy uses his knowlege of pumps, valves and the laws of physics to create the functional parts of anything that squirts, splashes or oozes water, fog, oil and other fluids.
